Brian Topp

Biography:

BRIAN TOPP is an experience strategic planner, negotiator, communications planner, and lead writer for numerous national and provincial campaigns and issue management challenges. He is currently a fellow at the Public Policy Forum and the founding partner at GT&Co, a political affairs consulting firm.

Topp has previously served as chief of staff and deputy chief of staff to Premiers Rachel Notley in Alberta and Roy Romanow in Saskatchewan. He has also served on the Government of Canada’s NAFTA Advisory Council.

Topp is the author of How We Almost Gave the Tories the Boot: The Inside Story Behind the Coalition, a memoir about his experiences attempting to broker a coalition between the NDP and the Liberals to take down PM Stephen Harper's Conservative government.  

Topp was born and raised in Montreal, earned a BA in Political Science from McGill University, and has worked across Canada in both official languages.
