Jeffrey Dvorkin

Biography:

JEFFREY DVORKIN is Journalist and senior fellow at Massey College at the University of Toronto. He is also an advisor on ethical issues to the University of Toronto Temerty Faculty of Medicine and is a frequent media commentator on journalism and ethical issues. He has recently authored a textbook, Trusting the News in a Digital Age, as a guide for students and citizens alike, published in the UK and the US by Wiley.

Dvorkin was director of the journalism program at University of Toronto Scarborough Campus from 2010 until July, 2020. Prior to teaching, he was in charge of two international news organizations, CBC Radio in Toronto and NPR News in Washington, DC. From 2000-2006 he was NPR’s first independent news ombudsman and the only broadcast ombuds in the United States. Dvorkin has lectured and taught journalism abroad as well, in Turkey, Niger, Guinea, Chile, Portugal, Germany, and Poland. 

Dvorkin has a degree in European History from the University of Alberta (BA (Hon), along with an MA from the University of Toronto and an M.Phil., from the London School of Economics.
