
Michael Bryant
Biography:
Raised in British Columbia’s Greater Vancouver area, MICHAEL BRYANT is a Canadian lawyer, a civil liberties advocate, and a former politician.
He was a Cabinet Minister for six out of his 10-year career at Queen’s Park: Attorney General, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs, Minister of Economic Development, and Government House Leader.
During his four years as Ontario’s Attorney General, Bryant led the largest ever expansion of the province’s criminal justice system, launching Canada’s first Guns and Gangs Task Force, in 2007.
Bryant subsequently served as CEO of Legal Aid BC, and of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association. He has been a Special Advisor to Norton Rose Fulbright LLP, and a commercial litigator at McCarthy Tetrault LLP.
Bryant was named “Top 25 Most Influential” by Canadian Lawyer Magazine, currently serving as a speaker and advisor for public and provider sector clients on justice, digital transformation, legaltech, and indigenous affairs.
Bryant is a member of the bar associations of BC and Ontario, and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He has a BA and MA from the University of British Columbia (1988 and 1989, respectively). an LLB from York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School (1992), and an LLM, magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School (1994).
