Sophie Sacilotto

Biography:

SOPHIE SACILOTTO is a second year Master Student with the Center of European and Eurasian Studies at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy of the University of Toronto. Here she researches Latvian Collective Memory of both World War II and the Soviet Union in comparison with Russian Collective Memory of the same period. This research is a continuation of her interest in memory, starting from her bachelor’s degree at the University of Victoria where she graduated with a Bachelors of Honours in History and a Minor in Slavic Studies in 2023.

Outside of her studies, Sacilotto is engaged in the European Strategic Communications industry, focusing on exposing and countering Russian Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI). Sophie has worked researching Russian FIMI starting at the NATO Strategic Communications Center of Excellence (CoE) as an Intern in 2024. She currently works as a Junior Analyst with Debunk.org, a Lithuanian NGO, while she completes her Master’s Degree.
