Ethics Series — Lending a Helping Hand: Climate Change, Global Conflicts and Humanitarian Aid
Join us for another Ethics Series (online) event on the impact of climate change and global conflicts which require increasing levels of humanitarian aid.
For the most part people in our society have a ‘moral’ sense that we should lend a helping hand when others are in trouble. Climate related natural disasters and global conflicts are impacting people at an alarming rate in Canada and beyond. Forest fires, flooding, drought, lose of farm land, mass migrations of people, increased health risks, wars, political instability…
Agenda
Our discussion will focus on issues related the following questions:
- Can the private and public sector in Canada meet the growing challenges?
- How much can Canadians do to lend a helping hand?
Moderated by Ethics Series Co-Chair Don Gibson, the panel includes:
- Dr. James Orbinski – Principal Elect, Massey College
- Nathaniel Erskine-Smith – MP for Beaches-East York
- Marianne Lahaie Luna – Junior Fellow, Massey College; PhD student in Health
